Blending and Unblending in IFS: How to Relate to Parts from the Ground of Self

During this session, we will explore the processes of blending and unblending in Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy. We will look at why our parts blend with Self and what can gently support the process of unblending, drawing on the energy of Self.

We will explore different approaches that support unblending, both in working with clients and in relating to our own internal system as therapists. Particular attention will be given to how key IFS principles — relationality, respect for consent, and the belief that “all parts are welcome” — shape the way we invite and support the process of unblending.

Our guests:

Kathryn Glenn, an IFS Institute (IFSI) Assistant Trainer, accredited counsellor, and certified IFS therapist. She has a private practice and is passionate about supporting people in getting to know their internal systems, helping them build relationships with their parts with respect and care, and strengthening access to embodied Self energy.

Anna Mini Joz, an IFS practitioner based in Montreal, Canada, and a psychologist (PhD, McGill University). She has been working with the Internal Family Systems (IFS) approach for more than three years and, as a member of the support team, has participated in numerous IFS Institute Level 1 and Level 2 trainings. Anna is passionate about deepening the understanding and practice of IFS and strives to create a warm, curious, and collaborative space where participants can learn, explore their own experience, and grow professionally.
